As ExMuslims, it can be daunting, frustrating and lonely as we navigate our lives after leaving Islam, especially trying to find friends and build relationships in-person can seem impossible. That’s where the Internet and social media come through for us! 🥳

And, that’s why this beautiful connection between neurodivergent kafirs @veiledrosee2021 and @apostatelayla made me so happy to hear about! Much love to you both! 😘😘

Veiled Rose shared: So much of my life I have had to fight shame, shame for not conforming. So much of my life I have been masking my true self. Finally meeting a fellow ND ExMuslim I have felt truly seen understood and belonging. Finally I can breathe and take off the suffocating mask. Be truly human. Be truly me.

Apostate Layla shared: When I started meeting others in exmuslim spaces for the first time I wasn’t sure how my neurodivergence would be received as I’m very open about it. Nobody has said anything at all which is great but always having to explain myself as to my differences in my videos is tiring , then one day I saw a post from a mutual and she was talking about being ND and an exmuslim and I got lit up inside with happiness. We finally got a chance to connect and chat and it felt so natural and affirming - it’s great to have that understanding and solidarity what we lost with Islam can be rebuilt. And to all the Neurodivergent ExMuslims, you are not alone. ❤️ Keep being your unique, lovely selves!
