Once Allah's Messenger … passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Messenger?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Messenger! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

Muslims will dive head first into #whataboutism if and when we talk to them about Islam’s inequities and inconsistencies. They deflect, pivot, and are quick to change the topic so no one can ever talk “bad” about Islam. It’s exhausting and frustrating having conversations, yes, and it makes sense when we’re told as Muslims that Islam can’t change, will never change, is meant to be unchanged, and anyone who tries to change it or leave it deserves ridicule, a penalty and punishment. 😞

Haram Doodle: 5, nay, 6 Pillars of Islam

1. Shahadah: Declaration of faith “There is no God but Allah and Mohammad is his messenger.” This is how the the seed of Muslim supremacy is planted.
2. Salah: Prayers 5 times a day, every day, until you die or else you go to hell and are not a good Muslim. Deal?
3. Zakah: Alms or charity giving, often about how much jewelry and property you own (which included enslaved people in Islam’s colonizing history)
4. Hajj: Pilgrimage to Mecca aka Profit Mo’s Pilgrimage & Tourism Company, a very profitable business venture since the pagan Arab days with year over year growth in ROI for Saudi. It was smart of Mo to take over the business and make Allah, one of the many statues being prayed to, as the one true God of Islam.
5. Sawn: Fasting, you know when we starve ourselves for 30 days from sunrise to sunset because we should know how impoverished people feel… but not the rest of the year, just one month of reflection and devotion to God.
6. Whataboutism: Aka Mental Gymnastics. But but but what about the nuns who cover their hair with a hijab? What about China, they’re atheists which means you’re horrible people! What about the eye and evolution and creationism? What about, what about, what about. You get it!

Hypocrisy, Denial, Lying were close contenders for the #6 spot.

News flash: Muslims leave Islam and become ExMuslims for many reasons, despite the fine print that tells us we’re not allowed to. Now, it would be fucking great if our own Muslim community would stop gaslighting us and actually listen without being afraid to address the ugliness in Islam.

As a Muslim, I always wondered what jinns were really like and what they talked about amongst themselves. 😂 Now as an ExMuslim, joking around about the beliefs that were too scary to even talk about as a kid has been a great way to deconstruct Islam.

Jinn: Duuuuuuude! Iblis! He is Muslim and takes advantage of innocent people. He takes their money, performs these exorcisms and then gets shit scared when I talk to him!

Ruqyah (exorcism) has to be one of the lamest ways Islam addresses behavioral, physical, and mental health challenges. And, Islam uses ruqyah as a fear tactic to control people who simply ask questions, want to leave Islam or, just live their life on their own terms. How is this still a thing in Islam in 2022? 😞

Mental health and access to mental health care are next to nonexistent in Muslim families, communities and countries. Nor does anyone advocate for it. Instead, anything out of the norm can be chocked up to Jinns taking over you, your body or even your home, and making you do things against your will. 🙄

They will say, "We bear witness against ourselves"; and the worldly life had deluded them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.

Hadith: The Prophet said, "Cover your utensils and tie your water skins, and close your doors and keep your children close to you at night, as the jinns spread out at such time and snatch things away. When you go to bed, put out your lights, for the mischief-doer (i.e. the rat) may drag away the wick of the candle and burn the dwellers of the house."(Book #54, Hadith #533)

Allah's Apostle said, "A jinn snatches that true word and pours it Into the ear of his friend (the fore-teller) (as one puts something into a bottle) The foreteller then mixes with that word one hundred lies." (Book #71, Hadith #657)

I honestly never knew I’d be doodling one day as an ExMuslim Atheist after years of my artistic hobbies being squashed by Islamic beliefs. But now, I’ll continue doodling to echo the experiences and voices of ExMuslims and people fighting for change in Islam, Muslim countries, and even small-scale change in our own families. There’s serious fear & discouragement in Islam of drawing living beings, because, as the beliefs go, it’s recreating Allah’s creation and people may end up worshipping the artwork instead of Allah, which is considered a grave sin in Islam. Obviously, this 7th century belief goes back to when Mo and his Muslim-Supremacist-Posse were trying to manspread Islam and mansplain the belief in one “true” God, Allah, by oppressing people who believed in their idols and Gods. It’s 2022 and this belief continues to affect our personal lives, where Muslim parents stop creativity and imagination, and our society at large, when Muslims can get so offended by drawings of Mo, that they’d be willing to attack and kill someone over it.
